Introducing the Artist Exchange at Oase
There’s a certain kind of stillness in the bush that invites creation.
You notice it early in the morning, when the river moves slowly through the valley and the light settles in before the day really begins. And then again in the evening, when the fire is going and the sounds shift — a fish eagle somewhere in the distance, leaves moving softly, something unseen in the dark.
In between, there are small moments that don’t announce themselves, but stay with you long after you leave. Oase has always been shaped by those moments.
From 1 April 2026 to 5 December 2026, we’re opening the lodge to something new — an Artist Exchange. It’s a trial, but more than that, it’s an invitation.

A Different Kind of Stay
The idea is simple.
A small number of artists will spend time at Oase on a full-board basis, living within the same rhythm as everyone else. In return, they bring something of their own — not on a schedule, not as a performance, but in a way that feels natural.
It might be a painting that takes shape over a few days and stays behind. It might be music shared one evening around the fire. It might be something written quietly and left to be found later.
There’s no set format. What matters is that it adds something — to the space, to the experience, and to the memory of being here. Dates are limited, and we’ll be selective. That’s important to keep the balance of the lodge intact.

The Bush as a Studio
A small number of artists will spend time at Oase on a full-board basis, living within the same rhythm as everyone else. In return, they bring something of their own — not on a schedule, not as a performance, but in a way that feels natural.
It might be a painting that takes shape over a few days and stays behind. It might be music shared one evening around the fire. It might be something written quietly and left to be found later. Or a conversation recorded and shared. A podcast episode shaped by the sounds and pace of the bush, created using our on-site studio. Or it might be a visiting chef spending time in the kitchen, creating a few dishes or a single evening menu inspired by the ingredients, the fire, and the place itself.
There’s no set format. What matters is that it adds something — to the space, to the experience, and to the memory of being here.
Dates are limited, and we’ll be selective. That’s important to keep the balance of the lodge intact.
What Stays Behind
Some things will remain. A piece of artwork might find its place in the lodge. A photograph might become part of a collection.
But most of it isn’t something you can point to. It’s a song heard once. A conversation around the fire. A moment that only existed because the right people were there at the same time.
That’s always been part of how Oase evolves.
An Open Invitation
This isn’t about volume or exposure.
It’s for people who feel comfortable working without structure, who understand the pace of the bush, and who want to contribute something real rather than something staged.
If that sounds like you, we’d like to hear from you. Send through some examples of your work, a few thoughts on how you’d approach your time here, and when you’d like to come. info@7starlodges.com
There’s a natural connection between wilderness and creativity.
We’re just making space for it.
At Oase, it’s always been there.
